We've now received two books for review from O'Reilly on the iPhone. We have not discussed how to disperse them but if you are interested then you'll want to be at the next (and first) meeting.

PS. I'm posting this from my new Android phone :-)
O'Reilly (http://oreilly.com/) has offered to donate relevant books to the UMDG. These books will be available on a case-by-case basis, provided to those that will commit to producing reviews and posting them here.
Thanks O'Reilly!
Note: Please send this to everyone you can think of that might be interested, and don't forget those that could be sponsors!

According to the information from Apple here (http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/), the NDA around iPhone development has been dropped. This means that we will be able to present on iPhone application development at our first meeting, which is currently scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2008.
We'll be having a presentation on Android development as well. Each presentation will last just under 1 hour, so there will be plenty of meat; not just demo, but actual code.
We have yet to find our meeting place, but things are on track for a great meeting and a great group!

I am pleased to announce that Software Technology Group (STG - www.stgutah.com) is our premier sponsor at the Platinum level.
Software Technology Group showed leadership as a premier sponsor of the Utah Java User Group (www.ujug.org) back in 1999 and they are current sponsors today. They have now shown leadership in the mobile arena as well. We applaud and appreciate their support.
Thank you, STG.

I've been thinking for some time about mobile platforms such as smartphones being the next wave of devices for application delivery. After a brown-bag presentation on the iPhone by Scott Lewis, a multitude of thoughts invaded me and I decided that I've waited long enough and now I'm going to do something.
